Aromatherapy Salves Infused With Essential Oils May Boost Your Natural Wellness

Aromatherapy is a natural and holistic approach to wellness, and aromatherapy salves are one way people can increase wellness in their everyday lives. These salves offer aromatherapists the ability to create “personalized” aromas meant to have specific effects on mood, energy levels, mental clarity, etc. There are many aromatherapy salve recipes that you can find online for different ailments or therapeutic purposes. In this blog post, we will discuss three popular aromatherapy salve recipes, as well as some basic tips on how to make your own aromatherapy salve!

Inflammation Calming Aromatherapy Salve

At its core, your body’s inflammation response is designed to protect or and encourage healing. Unfortunately, this is not always the case, as inflammation can continue after it’s no longer necessary. This is sometimes known as chronic inflammation. A particular enzyme named “COX-2” promotes your body’s inflammatory response. Fortunately, there are natural essential oils that suppress this enzyme through influencing receptors in your body called PPARs.

The most effective inflammation-fighting essential oil is Thyme, followed by five other oils that can be blended into your aromatherapy salve. These essential oils are Clove Bud, Eucalyptus, Fennel, Rose, and Bergamot. There are many recipes for making salve online, but a common ingredient is organic beeswax.

Aromatherapy salves are an excellent way to boost your immunity, aid respiratory issues, and even calm inflammation.

Respiratory Support Roll-on Salve

It can be easy to succumb to bouts of runny noses, stuffiness, and neverending sniffles during the fall and winter. At times like these, you’ll want to reach for a respiratory supporting roll-on. It’ll help clear your nasal passage and perhaps even your mind! There are some particular components found within common essential oils that can help rid you of your stuffy nose. α-pinene, d-limonene, 1,8-cineole, and camphene are found in the essential oils listed below. Making a roll-on salve is as easy as filling a roller bottle with:

10ml of Jojoba oil

2 drops of Eucalyptus essential oil

3 drops Douglas Fir essential oil

3 drops Sweet Orange essential oil.

To support your clear nose and respiratory system, simply apply this blend by rolling it onto your neck and upper chest.

Immunity Support Citrus Salve

During the drier and colder months of the year, influenza, the common cold, and other less-than-fun microbes are more common. That’s why you’ll want to support and encourage a healthy immune system as much as possible to fight off these irritating illnesses.

When making a citrus immunity support salve, you’ll want to include beeswax and jojoba oil (as the carrier oil). For the essential oils, add grapefruit and orange essential oil. These oils have an immunostimulant effect and may even have anti-leukemic and anti-angiogenic effects. Danu will be offering our own immunity support salve soon, so be on the lookout in our store!
