Frequently Asked Questions

What is CBD?

There are numerous molecules within each cannabis plant. One of these molecules is cannabidiol or better known as CBD. This particular molecule is considered to be particularly beneficial to supporting your health and natural wellness.

What is CBD oil?

The oil that is extracted from both the flowers and leaves of the cannabis plant is what’s known as CBD oil. This natural oil is widely used across the globe for numerous wellness-promoting purposes.

What are cannabinoids?

Within cannabis plants, there are active compounds known as cannabinoids. These cannabinoids are found in all varieties of cannabis and hemp plants. When cannabinoids are found in plants, they are called phytocannabinoids. When found naturally in the human body, they are known as endocannabinoids. Both types of cannabinoids influence your body’s ECS, or endocannabinoid system.

How does CBD work?

Your body reacts to CBD through its endocannabinoid system. Receptors within the body are often indirectly affected by CBD through their interaction with enzymes.

What is hemp seed oil?

CBD oil and hemp seed oil are distinctly different. Hemp seed oil is made exclusively by pressing out the oil from hemp seeds. CBD oil is extracted by pressing the cannabis plant’s stems, flowers, and leaves. While hemp oil can be beneficial, it does not contain CBD.

What is the difference between CBD and hemp?

Known for its fibers, hemp is primarily produced for food or industrial uses. It is one variety of cannabis plants. CBD is the name of a specific molecule extracted from within this plant. Danu’s CBD is produced using a CBD-potent strain of hemp known as PCR hemp. It is extremely rich in CBD when compared to other varieties of hemp. It contains a much higher volume of CBD and natural terpenes than other hemp strains.

Is your product safe?

CBD has not been known to cause any incidents of illness from its consumption. Danu puts our products through rigorous 3rd party testing to ensure their safety and purity.

What is the difference between hemp and marijuana?

Both of these are types of cannabis, but marijuana contains THC. THC is a type of cannabinoid that causes one to feel “high” and is not technically federally legal. There are many states that allow THC to be sold legally. The amount of THC in hemp is extremely low. Danu completely removes even trace amounts of THC in our products using a proprietary process.

What is CBD used for?

CBD is commonly used to help support your body’s core systems. It helps to balance these systems through the positive effect it has on your endocannabinoid system. Cannabinoids are an important part of regulating near-countless systems in your body. It can also be used for supporting good sleep patterns and potentially relieving joint pain.

Does your product contain THC?

No. We ensure all of our CBD products here at Danu are THC-free. We use strict third-party lab testing and patented THC removal technology to remove any remaining traces that may be leftover from the hemp extract we use in our CBD products.

Are there traces of THC in CBD oil?

While there may be extremely small amounts of THC contained in raw hemp extract, all of Danu’s offerings contain absolutely no THC.

Can I see your lab reports?

Absolutely! We post each of our lab reports for every batch of product right here on our website. To see our most recent lab test results, click here.

Why should I choose CBD over medical cannabis?

Medical cannabis, sometimes known as medical marijuana, is distinctly different from CBD. Medical cannabis contains a chemical compound known as THC. This compound is known to cause impairments because it is psychoactive. This means it will affect your ability to drive, work, and operate as normal. Since CBD is not psychoactive, it will not cause a high. You can go about your day-to-day activities without feeling any impairment.

What does broad spectrum mean?

When CBD is referred to or classified as broad-spectrum it means that it contains the natural terpenes, flavonoids, and phytocannabinoids found within the hemp plant. Many CBDs on the market are made using CBD isolate. Danu uses only broad-spectrum CBD in our products to ensure none of the beneficial compounds are lost, and so that you can potentially receive more benefit from our products. All of Danu’s broad-spectrum CBD products contain no detectable amounts of THC. This can be verified by looking at our 3rd party lab test results.

What does full spectrum mean?

Similar to broad-spectrum, full-spectrum CBD contains natural phytocannabinoids and terpenes. The primary difference is that full-spectrum contains very small amounts of THC, which occurs naturally in the hemp plant. Less than 0.3%, to be precise. Full-spectrum CBD cannot legally have more than this amount.

Is broad-spectrum CBD oil psychoactive?

Every single one of Danu’s CBD products is broad-spectrum and contains no THC. Because they contain no THC, and CBD is not psychoactive, it would be highly unlikely for any of Danu’s products to cause even the slightest high.

Will I feel any effects from using CBD products?

You will not feel any “high” type of feelings while using CBD, but many CBD users report feeling some positive effects. These include boosted mood, better ability to focus, and improved sleep quality. Each body is different, so the potential effects and results of CBD may vary from person to person.

Can I overdose on CBD?

CBD is completely non-toxic, and there has never been a recorded case of any person experiencing an overdose on CBD. Our lab reports prove that our CBD has no detectable THC, so you can rest easy knowing you will not experience any feelings of being high.

What are the benefits of taking broad-spectrum CBD products?

Broad-spectrum CBD products are a fantastic way to potentially get all the beneficial effects of hemp. When compared to products containing only CBD-isolate, broad-spectrum may offer more benefits because it retains many of the hemp plant’s original terpenes, phytocannabinoids, flavonoids, and other natural oils. When consumed together, these natural compounds may cause what’s known as the entourage effect. The entourage effect is the concept that when the cannabis plant’s natural compounds are consumed together, they work with each other to create a more potent effect than mere CBD alone. Because we support the entourage effect, all of Danu’s CBD products are broad-spectrum. Since each person’s body reacts differently to these organic compounds, results and benefits may vary.

What are terpenes?

The cannabis plant produces a type of volatile hydrocarbon compound called Terpenes. These are typically found within the flower. The unique aromas and flavors found in cannabis can be attributed to these terpenes. Terpenes have been used for aromatherapy for millennia and they are considered safe for humans to consume by the Food and Drug Association. They are even fused in a huge variety of cosmetics and foods.

What is a CBD tincture?

Prepared with CBD extract from the hemp plant, CBD tinctures are an easy-to-consume oil. They are usually consumed orally or sublingually (under the tongue). Our tinctures naturally do not contain any alcohol, as opposed to many other traditional tinctures.

Is it possible to take too much CBD?

Danu has never seen or heard of anyone overdosing on cannabidiol (CBD). It is completely non-toxic, but if taken in extremely large doses, it may cause a bit of sleepiness or drowsiness.

How much CBD is in your products?

We’re proud to say that Danu focuses on quality and purity, so our CBD products are some of the most potent and pure on the market. Each of our products offers varying degrees of strength, so we recommend looking at the precise concentrations listed on each product description or on the product labeling.

What is the ideal serving size?

Because each person’s body will react to CBD differently, there is no set, ideal serving size. The ideal dosage for your body can depend on a wide variety of factors. The most common doses usually range between 5 and 50 mg of CBD per day for minor health issues and general wellness

How often can I take CBD?

Depending on the reason for using CBD, you can use it multiple times a day or whenever you feel it’s needed. There is no set rule for often it should be taken.

Should I take CBD with food?

To avoid any potential digestion issues, Danu recommends our CBD be taken with food. While there are usually no issues with taking CBD on an empty stomach, we recommend this just as a precaution. If there are any side effects, taking CBD with food may help minimize them.

Are there any negative side effects?

There are no known negative side effects associated with CBD. If taken in very large doses, CBD may cause some level of drowsiness. Danu recommends not taking extremely large quantities of CBD before you may need to be alert while driving or working.

What kind of testing/analysis is performed on your products?

Danu wants you to know you are safe when consuming our products. That’s why we send them through strict and rigorous testing processes through a third-party laboratory. This laboratory checks for purity and proper concentrations of cannabinoids. They also use strict standards to test our CBD products for any potential contaminants like metals, molds, or microbes. Only safe and pure products make the final cut.

Do you test for potency, pesticide, heavy metals, and yeast/mold?

Absolutely. To ensure the purity and accurate concentrations of cannabinoids in our CBD products, Danu sends all our products through a third-party laboratory. This strict process also tests to ensure our products are THC-free and contaminant-free.

Will CBD get me high?

No. Our broad-spectrum CBD does not contain the psychoactive compound known as THC, so it would be incredibly unlikely you feel even the slightest high.

Will I need a marijuana card or doctor’s prescription to use CBD products?

You do not need any kind of medical marijuana card to buy our CBD online. CBD is not a drug, so no special documentation is needed at all. Several states do have laws relating to how doctors can discuss CBD with their patients and their particular health conditions.

Does CBD have a shelf life?

There is no expiration date for CBD. That being said, it may lose potency or effectiveness over time if it is not stored properly. It may also lose some potency if it is not used within a certain time frame, usually 18 to 24 months. It’s important to note that our CBD products should be stored in a cool place (room temperature is fine) and away from direct sunlight. We recommend you refer to the labeling on each individual product for more specifics.

How should I store CBD products? Do I need to refrigerate them?

With all of our CBD products, Danu recommends keeping them in a dry, cool place. Keep them away from sunlight and heat, which can both cause compounds within the CBD to degrade over time. Most of our customers store their CBD in their bathroom cabinet or a drawer.

Will CBD oil show up on a drug test?

We do not expect our CBD products to produce a positive test result for THC consumption, under normal circumstances. Most workplace drug tests don't distinguish between the various cannabinoids in CBD products, so they may trigger a false positive since THC and CBD are both cannabinoids.  Danu cannot and will not represent or warrant as to any results that an individual may experience. We recommend you strongly consider any potential repercussions and risks that an incorrect detection may bring prior to using our CBD products. To view our third-party lab results, be sure to visit the Lab Results page found on the top navigation bar on our website. Please feel free to ask us any questions by contacting us at  [email protected].

Will CBD help me if I’m healthy?

CBD can be used by people who do not have any current medical concerns. It has the potential to support your body’s homeostasis, making it appealing to anyone looking for a natural, holistic way to approach wellness.

Does CBD interact with other medications?

Early research has shown that CBD as well as other cannabinoids (ie. THC) may cause potentially serious interactions with the following drugs:

  • a common blood thinner, warfarin
  • a heart rhythm medication, amiodarone
  • a thyroid medication, levothyroxine
  • several medications for seizure, including clobazam, lamotrigine, and valproate.

If you are taking prescription medications, we recommend you discuss CBD usage with your doctor before beginning use.

How long will it take to receive benefits from taking CBD oil?

There are some methods of CBD consumption that are particularly fast such as tinctures and vaporizers. Most of the effects of CBD are subtle and it may take some time to be able to detect them. Individual results will vary, but usually, the effects of CBD begin within half an hour.

What methods of extraction do you use?

We use a gentle, proprietary extraction method to produce our CBD products. Our method keeps the natural oils and beneficial compounds intact without using harsh solvents. For more information, refer to Danu’s Process.

Where is your hemp grown?

All of our hemp is grown right here in the United States, specifically in Colorado. Hemp is grown all over the world, just like any other crop, but we choose to use only hemp grown right here at home.

Is your product organic? Vegan friendly?

The hemp used in all of Danu’s products is grown using only natural methods. Our products, whenever possible, use organic ingredients. With the exception of our CBD softgels and CBD salve, Danu’s products are vegan-friendly. We hope to introduce a 100% vegan CBD softgel in the future.

I have a gluten allergy. Can I use your products?

Yes! All of Danu’s products are gluten-free. Our owner, Michael, uses all of our dairy and gluten-free products.

What is the endocannabinoid system?

The ECS, or human endocannabinoid system, is a system of cell membrane receptors and neurotransmitters. The central nervous system produces endocannabinoids, a type of neurotransmitter, which interacts with cannabinoid receptors. This adjusts cellular-level physiological processes that may benefit your overall natural wellness.

What is the entourage effect?

Danu uses broad-spectrum CBD oil in our products. With broad-spectrum CBD, your body is more likely to take advantage of what’s known as the entourage effect. The natural phytocannabinoids, flavonoids, and terpenes contained in broad-spectrum CBD oil may work better together to create increased benefits. The concept behind the entourage effect is that the combined effect of these natural compounds is greater than when using CBD-isolate. Products that are not broad or full-spectrum may not offer the benefits of the entourage effect. We always recommend going with broad-spectrum CBD over products that do not offer all the natural terpenes found in hemp.

Is CBD water-soluble?

Normally, CBD oil is not water-soluble. Danu’s softgels are made with a special proprietary process that encapsulates nano-sized emulsion CBD particles. These particles in the softgel are water-soluble, making them much more easily absorbed into your body.

How do I choose a product that is right for me?

Each CBD product we offer has a different consumption method. Each method may be better suited to the different needs of the individual. Danu recommends our tinctures and softgels for overall natural wellness. Our delicious CBD gummies may be best for those who want convenience and flavor with their CBD. Finding the right product for you may take a few tries, and we welcome you to experience all of our CBD offerings!

How does your product differ from others?

We develop all of our products for easy absorption, purity, and potency. Our THC-free products are made using special proprietary processes for CBD extraction. Our process retains the natural terpenes and other beneficial compounds found naturally in the hemp plant. Our nanoemulsion method used in our CBD softgels ensures high absorbability and potency while promoting homeostasis in the gut. We use only the finest ingredients and use gentle yet powerful extraction methods with our CBD.
